Colour Analysis in Leeds: What to Expect and How to Book

If you have ever stood in your wardrobe and wondered why some colours make you feel vibrant and alive while others seem to drain the life from your face, colour analysis might be exactly what you have been looking for. It is one of those genuinely life-changing discoveries, the kind that makes getting dressed feel simple and enjoyable rather than stressful.

If you are based in Leeds or anywhere in West Yorkshire, including Harrogate, Ilkley, Wetherby, Wakefield, Bradford, or York, you can book an in-person colour analysis session with me, Anastasiia, at The Colour and Style. Here is everything you need to know before you get in touch.

What Is Colour Analysis?

Colour analysis is a process that identifies the colours and tones that work most harmoniously with your natural colouring: your skin, eyes, and hair. The idea is that every person belongs to one of four colour families (or seasons), and wearing colours within your season makes you look healthier, more radiant, and more put-together, without trying harder or spending more.

This is not about what colours you like (you can still wear your favourites). It is about understanding which shades of those colours suit you best, and which ones to avoid or swap out.

The 4-Season Colour System

I use the classic 4-season colour system, the most trusted and straightforward approach to colour analysis. The four seasons are Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, and each one is characterised by a combination of warm or cool undertones, and light, medium, or deep colouring.

Spring: Warm, light, and bright. Springs suit clear, fresh, warm colours like peach, coral, warm ivory, and golden yellow.

Summer: Cool, soft, and light. Summers look beautiful in muted, dusty tones like lavender, rose, powder blue, and soft grey.

Autumn: Warm, rich, and deep. Autumns suit earthy, muted tones like terracotta, olive, burnt orange, and warm chocolate brown.

Winter: Cool, deep, and clear. Winters shine in high-contrast, bold colours like true navy, icy pink, emerald green, and pure white.

Most people have a natural instinct about what looks right on them, but the palette can surprise you. Discovering that you have been avoiding your best colours (or wearing ones that are quietly working against you) is one of the most satisfying parts of the session.

What Happens in a Colour Analysis Session?

A session with me typically lasts around an hour and takes place in a good, natural light setting. Here is what to expect:

We start with a conversation about your wardrobe, your lifestyle, and what you hope to get out of the session. This helps me understand the context behind your style and what matters most to you. We do a fun temperaments quiz and I explain how it ties in with your colour season.

I then drape a series of fabric swatches in different colours around your shoulders and neckline. You do not need to do anything except sit and observe. The drapes do all the work. Certain colours will make your complexion look fresh and clear; others will cast shadows under your eyes or make you look tired. Once you see the difference, you cannot unsee it.

From the draping process, I identify your season and your most flattering colour palette. We talk through what this means for your wardrobe, your shopping habits, and the colours you are naturally drawn to.

You leave with a personalised digital colour fan that you can use when shopping, so you always know exactly which shades to look for (and which ones to put back on the rail).

What to Wear to Your Session

For the most accurate results, it helps to be with a clean, bare face, as foundation and lipstick can slightly alter how your skin responds to the drapes. If you colour your hair, that is absolutely fine. You do not need to dress up or dress down. Come as you are.

What You Get After Your Session

After your colour analysis, you will have a clear, personalised colour palette to work from. Most clients tell me they feel far more confident when shopping because they know exactly what to look for. There is no more guessing, no more buying something that looks great in the shop but never feels right when you get it home.

Many clients also find it is a turning point for their whole approach to getting dressed. When you know your colours, building a wardrobe that actually works becomes much more straightforward.
